    Karlstejn Castle

    Prague, Czech Republic, Europe

Karlstejn Castle (Hrad Karlstejn) is one of the most visited and symbolically significant castles in the Czech Republic, located 30 kilometers southwest of Prague, in Central Bohemia. It rises on a wooded hill above the valley of the Berounka River, and its multi-tiered Gothic silhouette is visible from afar. Karlstejn was founded in 1348 by the Czech king and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV
