Lower Gunib in Dagestan

Gunib, Caucasus and Black sea, Russia

Gunib village is located on the Karakoysu River on the steep slope of the Gunib Plateau. Most of the village, which is called Lower Gunib, is located on a flat hill near the river. From it, the road goes steeply up to the plateau itself. The height from the riverbed to the Shamilevsky Gate, where the entrance to the plateau is located, reaches 500 meters.
