The Path of the Romantics is laid along the southern slope of the Abishira-Akhuba mountain range. Its length is 4 kilometers, however, the most popular section is 1.7 kilometers, which runs along the slope at an altitude of 2,250 meters. After a walk without a height difference, a steep descent begins down into the valley of the Arkhyz River. Many people prefer to turn back to go down the ski lift.
To walk along the Path of the Romantics, you have to climb the southern slope from the village of Upper Arkhyz on the Milky Way ski lift. Here, near an artificial reservoir, you will see the inscription "Arkhyz", laid out of small logs. The height of the upper station of the Milky Way cable car is 2250 meters. It used to be the upper station, but in 2023 another lift "Orbit" was built. It is possible to climb to a height of 3014 meters to Moskovsky Peak.
The path of the Romantics begins near the inscription "Arkhyz". It goes along a rather steep mountain slope and from almost every point there are very beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. These places can really be called romantic. The highest peaks of Arkhyz are visible from the trail: the mountains of Pshish (3790 m) and Sofia (3637 m). In some places, the Romantic Trail runs through a dense pine forest.
After 1.7 kilometers you will come to the recreation area, where benches and a table are installed. Usually people have a rest here and turn back, but if you want to take a more difficult route, then you can go down this path. The trail descends to the lower station of the Milky Way cable car in the village of Verkhny Arkhyz. It is not difficult to ski down this slope, however, a walk will take at least 1-2 hours.
The height difference in the remaining 2.5 kilometer segment is 300 meters, which can be called a very steep descent. You should keep in mind that in summer the ski lift closes at 16.00. If you stay upstairs later than this time, you will have to walk down anyway.
