Seid Ukko’s Head is a place of power on Mount Vottovaara. It is located on a picturesque stone ridge that rises above the Amphitheater. Followers of esoteric teachings believe that the stone is endowed with mystical energy and power, which is transmitted to everyone who is ready to accept it.
In Karelo-Finnish mythology, Ukko is the supreme god of thunder, the same as in Greek mythology, the god Zeus is. In the epic Kalevala Ukko is even called the creator of the world, like God the father in the Christian religion. Traditionally, Ukko was depicted as a formidable old man with a gray beard, so the largest seid of Vottovaara was also named after Ukko.
Seid Ukko`s Head is a huge megalith. It reaches a height of 5 meters, and its weight exceeds 30-40 tons. From the side, seid really looks like the head of a mythical creature. However, he looks more like an animal than a person, but here everything depends on the imagination.
Chin of Ukko`s head rests on a rocky massif, and the back of his head stands on two powerful boulders. There is a small hole below the seid. Followers of esoteric teachings consider it necessary to crawl through this hole after their rituals near Seid.
An interesting fact is that the megalithic stone of Seid has a perfectly even split in the middle. In fact, the stone is split in half, but it stands on its supports as a single whole. From the side, the split looks like a perfectly smooth cut, but at the bottom, you can see that this crack is of natural origin.
