Sinyavinsky Lake is located in the village of Yantarny and is one of its attractions. The lake has very clean water, and the depth reaches 25 meters. There is a diving school here, including training for beginners. These dives are of great interest, as there is a flooded forest at the bottom.

From 1913 to 1972, the Walter quarry was located on the site of Sinyavinsky Lake, where industrial amber mining was carried out in an open-pit way. At the beginning of the 20th century, the village was called Palmlinken. Maurice Becker and Wilhelm Stantin founded the company "Stantin und Becker". Initially, they opened two mines "Anna" and "Henrietta". However, the extraction of amber in the mines was not profitable, so they soon invested in the development of the Walter quarry. This quarry functioned even during the WWII.

After the Kaliningrad Region came under the jurisdiction of Russia, the village was named Yantarny (Amber). Work at the Walter quarry continued until 1972, when a new Amber Quarry with a significantly higher amber content was opened. After that, the Walter quarry was closed.  Work on pumping groundwater stopped and the quarry was flooded.

This is how Lake Sinyavinskoye appeared. The flooding of the quarry by groundwater has been occurring for several years. Small trees and bushes have already grown at the bottom of the quarry, which now delight scuba divers with their mysterious appearance. The branches of the trees are covered with shells and sediments. The sun, penetrating through the water column, beautifully illuminates them.

Numerous films were shot under the water of Sinyavinsky Lake. The scenery of these films remained underwater, which adds interest to divers for diving. There is a submarine, an airplane, various boats, as well as all kinds of weapons from the WWII time.

There are two beaches on Lake Sinyavinsky. The water on hot summer days can be quite comfortable for swimming. Although most tourists prefer to swim on the Amber Beach of the Baltic Sea. The sandy beach, equipped for swimming, is located on the southern shore of Lake Sinyavinsky. There is a small Amber Mining Museum near the beach, where interesting excursions are conducted.
