One of the most interesting natural attractions is located on the western slope of the Southern Demerdzhi Mountain: Valley of Ghosts. Demerdzhi Mountain is located 10 kilometers from Alushta, but the interest in the Valley of Ghosts is so high that tourists come here from many resorts on the coast of southern Crimea, from Sudak to Yalta.
The Valley of Ghosts is located near the village of Luchistoe. After passing the village, the car can be left in a Sunny Glade near the trail that leads to the mountainside. From below you will see the weathering figures in the Valley of Ghosts; they look like giant columns or narrow reef ledges. Some of them look like different parts of the body. All of them turned out as a result of weathering and the influence of precipitation.
There is a Giant Pillar at the entrance to the Valley of Ghosts. Its height reaches 25 meters. From here, the path goes to the right and steeply up. Visitors can get closer to the rocky remains, which look like various figures. One rock looks like the nose of a man, the second is like the head of a Tatar warrior, and some rocks resemble phalluses. In general, that`s why it is the Valley of Ghosts, so that people can see the most bizarre forms here. They look especially impressive in the fog, which are quite common on Mount Demerdzhi.
Usually people limit themselves to walking between these outliers without climbing high up. But at some point the trail really becomes so steep that it is impossible and even dangerous for people without special training, and in some places without special equipment, to move up the slope.
If you have planned to visit Demerdzhi all day, then you need to climb Mount Alenga, and then Mount Southern Demerdzhi. From the Southern Demerdzhi you can see the Valley of Ghosts from above, and on Mount Alenga, you will see even more bizarre weathering rocks, similar to caterpillars and trolls.
Despite the Southern Demerdzhi hangs directly over the Valley of Ghosts, it is impossible to climb up the mountainside there. You need to turn right to pass under the Bust of Catherine the Great. There is Mount Alenga. After that, you need to go further to the Southern Demerdzhi mountain.
The Northern Demerdzhi Mountain is located at a considerable distance from the Southern Demerdzhi (3.7 km) and it is unlikely to be possible to visit all the sights in one day. If you have the opportunity to come here with a tent, then there is an opportunity to stay overnight near the Southern Demerdzhi.
