The long Volga Embankment is located on the Borisoglebsk side. The most beautiful part of the embankment begins at the stairs of the Resurrection Cathedral and stretches to the pier where cruise ships are moored. This place has a sandy beach where you can swim and sunbathe in summer.

The most famous Volga embankment in Tutaev is located on the Romanov side. It runs along a high bank, rising more than 100 meters above the river. Once it was the center of social life, where the public gathered for walks and communication. Now it is a quiet street with beautiful views of the Volga and Borisoglebsk side.

The high bank of the Romanov side is dotted with numerous ravines. Because of these ravines, the Volga embankment in Tutaev is divided into two parts. It begins near the ravine where the Kazan Transfiguration Church was built in the 18th century. Thanks to it, the landscape of the Volga shores of Tutaev became so beautiful.

The first small section of the Volga embankment stretches only 200 meters to the next ravine. Behind this ravine begins the second segment of the Volga Embankment, which stretches for another 500 meters to the Trinity Church. At a short distance from the embankment, you can see the Savior-Arkhangelsk Church.

The Volga Embankment of Tutaev is known for the paintings that Boris Kustodiev painted when he came to the city in the early 20th century. In Tutaev, he stayed at the Hermitage Hotel, which was located on the first stretch of the Volga Embankment. In the 20th century, the building of the Hermitage Hotel was damaged by fire and has not survived to this day.

Now on this place there is a two-story rectangular residential building. The atmosphere that Kustodiev depicted in his painting "Walking on the Volga" is also no longer there. There is no active merchant life in the city, the embankment is deserted, but this does not spoil it. It is also beautiful and the views of the Borisoglebsk side are also picturesque.
