To the east of the village of Yantarny there is a huge Amber Quarry, where amber is extracted commercially. These places contain about 90% of the world`s amber reserves. In the southern part of the quarry, there is an observation platform where you can view the scale of industrial development of stone.
Near the quarry, which is called “New Primorskiy”, there is an Amber factory, however, the entrance to it is closed, and tours are not conducted. To see the quarry, you have to go to the observation deck, which is located a few kilometers away.
From the observation deck of the Amber quarry, you can see its huge size. The depth of the amber layer in this quarry is 50 meters. In the old mines that were developed in the last century, it was 10 meters. Amber mining is conducted by a walking excavator. At 1 time, its bucket scoops up 20 tons of sand. Then the rock is washed out of the hydromonitor. Large pieces of amber are extracted directly in the quarry. The remaining mass (pulp) is sent to the enrichment sites, where fine amber is extracted. Amber is washed out by water from the Baltic sea. After that, the pulp (pure white sand) is drained back into the Baltic sea. Thanks to this pulp, Yantarny village has such magnificent beaches with the purest sand.
On the Observation platform there is an Amber pyramid built in the proportions of the Golden section. It took 800 kilograms of amber to cover the pyramid. You need to enter it to recharge with the energy of amber. Amber is called a Sunstone. It absorbs the positive energy of the sun. Nearby there is a large store where you can buy amber and products made from it
A huge bucket of a walking excavator is installed on the observation deck. There is a large sandbox next to it. Sand from the quarry is regularly brought here by dump trucks. You can dig in it and look for amber. There are always a lot of people who want to do this fascinating process. There is an observation tower on the site. You can climb it to have a better view than from the edge of the quarry.
