The Baydar Gate is located at the highest point of the Baydar Pass, which connects Yalta and Sevastopol. In 1848, a road was built here that connected the coast of Southern Crimea with the central regions of Crimea. After the completion of the construction of this road, the Baydar Gate was built on the Baydar Pass, which became a historical monument.

If you are traveling along the Southern coast of Crimea in the Foros area, it is very desirable to climb to the Baydar Gate to see very picturesque views of the Black Sea surrounded by the rocky cliffs of the Crimean Mountains. At the Baydar Gate there is a well-known restaurant in the Crimea, a Hut. The ascent to the Baydar Gate begins near the village of Foros.

Now the road from Foros to the Baydar Gate is used only by residents of numerous villages of the Baydar Valley. However, after the completion of the road in 1848 through the Baydar Pass, its significance was much higher. Until 1970, there was no South Coast highway along the seashore, so it was possible to drive from Yalta to Sevastopol or Bakhchisarai only through the Baydar Gate.

The Baydar Pass is located between the Mount Chelebi (657 m) and Mount Chhu-Bair (705 m). The height of the Baydar pass itself is 503 m. The Baydar Gate offers a beautiful view of the sea and the Foros Church of the Resurrection of Christ. It was built in 1892 on the Red Rock (height 412 m) between the mountains Chelebi and Chhu-Bair.

If you plan to visit these places all day, then after visiting the Baydar Gate, you can go down to the Baydar Valley. The dimensions of this picturesque basin of the Crimean Mountains are 17 x 10 kilometers. On all sides it is surrounded by mountains, which do not seem high, since the valley itself is located high in the mountains, a little below the Baydar pass. There are several villages and the Chernorechenskoye reservoir in the valley.

Part of the territory of the Baydarsky Valley is included in the Landscape Reserve "Baydarsky". There are more than a dozen hiking trails along the Baydar Valley. The most interesting sights of the Baydar Valley: Kozyrek Waterfall, Mulovsky Lake, Fatma-Koba Cave, Uzundzhinsky Canyon, several small waterfalls.
