Bogolyubov Chapel is located at the bottom of Igumnov ravine, at the foot of the Resurrection Hill. The Resurrection Church, the oldest stone building in Tarusa, was built on the top of the hill in the 17th century. The source was first mentioned in the chronicles of 1650. There was no running water in the city then. All residents of Tarusa and surrounding villages gathered drinking water here.
The water in the Igumnov ravine spring is considered healing, and the spring itself has been consecrated. A Chapel of the Bogolyubov Icon of the Mother of God was built above it. When the Bolsheviks closed the Peter and Paul Cathedral and the Resurrection Church in the city, believers came to pray at the Holy Spring.
The Bolsheviks also destroyed the chapel above the spring, but in 2006 it was restored. In 2010, a swimming pool was built nearby. In it you can plunge into the waters of the Holy Spring. Processions and baptismal bathing are held here.
