    Cape Aya Nature Reserve

    Balaklava, South, Russia

Cape Aya Nature Reserve is located to the east of Balaklava. It occupies an area of 1.7 thousand hectares. At the edge, the cape descends into the sea with sheer cliffs. Their height reaches 300 meters, and the highest mountains on Cape Aya exceed 500 meters. Translated from Greek, the word "Aya" means "Holy". This name has been preserved since the Greek colonization of the Crimea in the 6th-3rd centuries BC.
