The Cathedral Square is in the historical center of Belgorod. It is the main square of the city, which was formed in the second half of 17 century. Earlier it was called the Bolshaya (Big) Square and then the Revolution Square.

Svyato-Troitsky Boulevard begins in the west of the Sobornaya Square. The monument honoring the heroes of the Great Patriotic War is at the beginning of the boulevard. The Eternal Flame is at the monument. The Cave of St. Ioasaph and the Marfo-Mariinsky Monastery are further on along Svyato-Troitsky Boulevard.

Belgorod region administration built in 1956 is in the north of the Sobornaya Square. It is near the beautiful hotel «Belgorod» built in the style of classicism. The monument «The City of Military Glory» is in front of the administration building. Belgorod was the first Russian city to be awarded this title on April 27, 2007. But a corresponding obelisk appeared only 2013. Before, as in most cities of Russia, the monument to Lenin was in front of the administration building. It was moved to the Narodny Boulevard.

A building with big classic columns is near the Belgorod region administration on the east side of the Sobornaya Square. It is the regional department of Agro-Industrial Complex. The nearby building with a clock is occupied by the Belgorod Statistics Center.

The Belgorod Drama Theatre named after a great Russian actor Mikhail Semenovich Shchepkin, the founder of Russian actor school is on the south side of the Sobornaya Square. It is near the Chapel of St. Vladimir. The theatre building was constructed in 1962. It was named after a great Russian actor Mikhail Semenovich Shchepkin, the founder of Russian actor school. Mikhail Shchepkin was born in Krasnoye village, Kursk Province, not far from Belgorod. The monument to Shchepkin is near the theatre.
