Charyn Canyon

Charyn Canyon is located 195 kilometers from Almaty and is part of the Charyn National Park. It is one of the most visited natural attractions in Kazakhstan. The canyon was formed in a thickness of sedimentary rocks under the influence of the Charyn River waters and wind erosion. Its length along the riverbed is 154 kilometers. For tourists, an entrance area to the Valley of Castles has been developed — the most popular section of the canyon, accessible for walking tours.
