Frederick Lutheran Church is located next to the Royal Palace of Amalienborg. It is also called the Marble Church. Despite its small size, the Church of Frederick looks Grand thanks to the huge dome. Its diameter reaches 31 meters.

The Church of Frederick was founded in 1749, during the reign of king Frederick V and named in his honor. He wanted this Church to become a single architectural ensemble with the Amalienborg Palace, which he built in honor of the 300th anniversary of the reign of the Oldenburg dynasty. However, the construction of the Church was significantly delayed due to lack of funds and was completed only 130 years later, in 1894.

The walls of the Church were lined with Norwegian marble, so it is often called Marble Church. The large dome has a diameter of 31 meters – it is the largest dome in Scandinavia, and one of the largest in Europe. The dome is decorated with frescoes depicting the apostles. Outside, the dome is surrounded by sculptures of saints.
