Geyser Lake is one of the most interesting sights of the Altay Mountains. It is located near the Chuya Highway , 6 kilometers from the village of Aktash. Due to its transport accessibility, most tourists coming to Altay visit it.

Geyser Lake has other names – Silver, Blue. However, all tourists know it under the name "Geyser". It should be mentioned that there are no geysers in the Geyser Lake. About the same as the Blue Lake on the Aktru Glaciers is also not blue, but turquoise.
The visual effect, which is similar to the activity of a geyser, is obtained as a result of pulsating water from sources. At the bottom of the lake there is one powerful spring and three small ones. The lake has a small size: 30 meters in diameter, and 2 meters deep.

The bottom of the Geyser Lake is covered with blue clay, which rises and settles in the streams of pulsating spring water. This clay diverges at the bottom of the lake in circles. Their pattern changes approximately every half hour along with new powerful water emissions from the source. Blue clay gives a very bright azure shade to the lake water. This color of water can be found in other lakes of Russia, but there are no changing patterns on the bottom.

Geyser Lake was found in 2005. Previously, it was not known and there is an opinion that it was formed as a result of an earthquake that occurred in Altay in 2003. Because of this earthquake, hats fell on some Stone Mushrooms in the Valley of the Chulyshman River, but perhaps an equally unique attraction appeared.

Geyser Lake is located 500 meters from the Chuya Highway on the banks of the Menka River at the foot of the mountain. The trail goes through a swampy place. The wooden deck is laid here. Swimming and drinking water from the Geyser lake is prohibited, but it can be collected from a clean stream that flows into the lake.
