The Gunib HPP named after Ramsul Gamzatov is one of the attractions of the village of Gunib. It was built in 1995-2005 in a narrow canyon of the Karakoysu River. The first HPP in Dagestan, and one of the first in Russia, was the Gergebil HPP. It was also built on the Karakoysu River back in 1935. The Gunib HPP became the upper part of the cascade of HPPs on this river.

The Gunib hydroelectric power station is located 9 kilometers from the village of Gunib at a fork in the road. If you go from Makhachkala, the road to the right goes to the Karadakh gorge and the village of Goor, and the road to the left goes past the water reservoir to the village of Gunib and the Andalal valley. A trout farm has been created in the water reservoir of the Gunib HPP.

The capacity of the Gunib HPP reaches 15 MW. It belongs to the category of small hydroelectric power plants. However, for tourists, the Gunib HPP looks very impressive, especially the flow of the river, which breaks out from under the dam and falls into the valley.  The height of the dam reaches 73 meters.

The historical and architectural complex Andal, built by architect Magomed Kerimov, is located on the territory of the hydroelectric power station. This is a traditional mountain battle tower, which you can climb to look at the reservoir, the hydroelectric dam, as well as the valley of the Karakaysu River.

Andal Tower is dedicated to the victory of Dagestan tribes in the war with the Shah of Iran in 1743. After several defeats, the Dagestan tribes united. The decisive battle took place in 1743 in the Andalal valley at the foot of the Avar Village of Chokh
