Kulikovo Battle Field museum in Tula region

The new museum was opened on the Kulikovo Battle Field in October 2016. It is a very large-scale project naturally complementing the landscape. A big viewing platform is on the roof of the museum. From the platform one can have a good view of the place of the main battle on the Kulikovo Field, as well as the Zelenaya Dubrava where the Ambush regiment was hidden. 

The big Kulikovo Battle Field museum was built in the style of postmodernism. Its main exposition is called «The Tale of the Slaughter of Mamay. A New Interpretation». The first rooms of the museum are devoted to the historical events preceding the battle, alliances of Dmitry Donskoi and Khan Mamay with the Olgerdovichi and the Genoeses, respectively. There one can also know the story about Prince Oleg of Ryazan and Grand Duke of Lithuania Jogaila whose troops didn’t take part in the battle. 

Separate rooms of Kulikovo Battle Field museum are devoted to the reconstruction of the Battle of Kulikovo, as well as the then landscape of this land. A large stand in the center of the room describes the course of the battle, from the single combat between Peresvet and Chelubey to the hoisting of the victory banner on the Red Hill. There one can also see the archaeological findings from the field of battle and its surrounding area, various relics of that time.
