The Monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary St. Tikhon Desert in Kaluga is the full name of one of the oldest monasteries in the Kaluga region. It was founded by Saint Tikhon of Kaluga, who blessed Prince Ivan III before the battle with the army of Khan Akhmat in 1480. However, Khan Akhmat did not dare to fight and went back to the Horde.
