Norman-Swabian Castle

The Norman-Swabian Castle (Castello Normanno-Svevo) is the main medieval fortress of Bari and one of the most significant monuments of Southern Italy. It is located in the historic center of the city. Unlike many castles that belonged to a single dynasty or a single era, this castle survived several completely different periods: Norman, Swabian, Angevin, Aragonese, and even a period when it served as a prison and barracks.
