Omsk Museum of fine arts named after Vrubel is located in Dzerzhinsky park, in the historical center of the city. It has one of the largest collections of paintings by Russian masters in Siberia. The Museum was named after the famous Russian artist Mikhail Vrubel, who was born in Omsk in 1856.
Omsk Museum was founded on December 21, 1924. The collections of the art Museum was placed in the Palace of the Governor-General of Omsk. It was built in 1859 by the architect Felix Wagner.
The first paintings were brought to Omsk in 1924 from the palaces of Rumyantsev, Shuvalov, and Yusupov. Some paintings were transferred to the Omsk Museum from the Tretyakov gallery and the Russian Museum. There are many paintings by famous Russian artists, Aivazovsky, Shishkin, Vasnetsov, Surikov and others. Also in the Museum you can see paintings by modern artists, as well as a collection of Western European art.
The Vrubel stage is open in the great hall of the Palace. Concerts of chamber orchestras of classical music are held here. In the Museum, you can see the famous triptych of Vrubel "Flowers", which he painted in 1894.
