The Palace Garden in Tver is located between the Imperial Travel Palace and the Mikhail Yaroslavich Embankment. Its territory is 2.5 hectares. In 2016, a complete reconstruction was made here and opened to visitors. The Palace Garden has a landscape design, antique sculptures and benches are installed in the park.

From the 13th to the 18th century, the wooden Tver Kremlin was located on this site. The only stone structure in the Kremlin was the Transfiguration Cathedral. By the 16th century, the Kremlin had become the archbishop`s residence. However, all the buildings of the palace fell into disrepair, and in 1763 there was a fire that destroyed all the wooden buildings of the Kremlin. The Transfiguration Cathedral was partially damaged, but it was restored.

In 1764, Empress Catherine II ordered the construction of a Travel Palace in the western part of the former Kremlin, where she planned to stay during her trips between Moscow and St. Petersburg. Since she traveled with a large entourage, the Travel Palace was built in the form of "П". Its edges were built close to the cathedral.

The city authorities decided not to build up the rest of the former Kremlin, but created a park zone there. A small Palace park was built in 1776, after the completion of the construction of the palace. Later, the Governor`s Garden (in 1832) and the Public Garden (in 1851) appeared. Now these two gardens are combined into a single City Garden with free access.

The Tver Palace Garden is usually visited together with a visit to the Travel Palace. The The Palace Garden can be visited separately, but you need to buy tickets for this. In the Palace Garden there is a small pavilion of the Palace Greenhouse. After walking along the alleys of the Palace Garden, go to the Mikhail Yaroslavich Embankment. On the left, above the river, you can see the beautiful Old-Volzhsky Bridge, built in 1900. There is a Monument to Pushkin on the embankment at the exit from the Palace Garden.
