Peter and Paul church at Prokhorovskoe field

The beautiful church of Peter and Paul is near the museum «The Third Battlefield of Russia». In this memorial church there are marble boards with the names of 10 thousand Soviet soldiers who were killed in the Prokhorovskoye Field.

The church of Peter and Paul was erected in Prokhorovka by the 50th anniversary of the victory in 1995. The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul falls on July 12th. And it was just on that day that the greatest tank battle of World War II took place. The Soviet forces sustained much more significant casualties than the Germans in the battle but it ended in the retreat of the latter.

The height of the church of Peter and Paul is the same as the height of the bell tower on the Prokhorovskoye Field (59 m). The church built in commemoration of the soldiers who were killed in the Battle of Prokhorovka has the shape of a lit candle.

The Bell of the Unification of Russia, the Ukraine and Belarus, with the words of Sergius of Radonezh, is on the territory of the church of Peter and Paul: «Love and unity will save us». The church of Nicholas the Wonder-Worker is near the bell.
