The Sculpture Park is located on the eastern outskirts of Ayia Napa. It was created in 2014 on the rocky shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Nearby is the Bridge of Love, which is a symbol of Ayia Napa. Many tourists come here, so the city authorities came up with the idea to make another interesting attraction on a huge wasteland.
The area of the vacant lot near the Bridge of Love was about 20 hectares. Ayia Napa city authorities have asked 50 sculptors from all over the world to participate in the project to create a Sculpture Park. Many sculptors responded to this request, and they gathered in Ayia Napa. The first sculptures were created on the spot, in 2014. The organizers did not limit the sculptors in their ideas. The main requirement is the size of the sculpture is more than 2 meters, and it must be made of stone or metal.
Many of the sculptures are based on ancient Greek myths, as well as the history of the ancient Greek world of the Mediterranean. However, there are many abstract sculptures, which are also very beautiful. By 2020, there are more than 200 sculptures in the Ayia Napa Sculpture Park, and the number is increasing every year.
The Sculptors` Symposium in Ayia Napa is held every year. It always receives a large number of sculptors who give their works to the park. In 2015, it was decided to create a Cactus Park next to the Sculpture Park. In the end, it turned out a great combination. Walking along the paths among the sculptures nearby, you can enjoy the beauty of cacti and succulents, which look very beautiful on the beach.
