The Makronissos Tombs are located near Makronissos Beach, in the western outskirts of Ayia Napa. Makronissos beach is one of the best in Cyprus, and if you come here, it will be interesting to walk to the hill on the right side of the beach. Here are the Tombs of Makronissos.

The Makronissos rock necropolis consists of 19 tombs carved in stone slabs. The entrances to the tombs are located at the top of a rock slab, from which stairs descend to the burial chambers. From above, they were covered with stone slabs, most often round in shape.

All the tombs belong to the Hellenic period. Some of the tombs were made in the Roman period. Excavations of this necropolis were carried out in 1989-90. Remains of funeral pyres were found here. The dead were buried in clay coffins. The Tombs of Makronissos are not as large as the Kings Tombs in Paphos. People from the middle class were buried here.
