Solovyevsky Park in Valdai is located on the shore of Lake Valdai, 1.3 kilometers from the historical center of the city. It can be reached on foot by visiting the Bell Museum on the way, as well as the Bell Museum Center. Solovyovsky Park has been a place of recreation for citizens for several decades.
In the late 19th and early 20th century, on the site of Solovyevsky Park there was a manor house belonging to the writer Vsevolod Solovyov, the son of the famous Russian historian Sergei Solovyov. Many creative people of that time came to visit him. The Roerich family were frequent guests at Solovyov`s house. After the 1917 revolution, the estate was nationalized, and the park fell into complete disrepair.
In 2013, the revival of Solovyevsky Park began. Many trees have been preserved since the time of the former owners of the estate. The Park has walking paths with beautiful views of the lake and the historical center of Valdai.
In 2018, a smaller replica of the Eiffel Tower was installed on the shore of the lake. Next to it you can see the anchor – this is the memorial grave of Captain Nikolai Filin, first rank, hero of Russia, a tester of deep-sea technology. He died in 2018 during a fire on the unique submarine AC-31, also known as Losharik.
