The Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh is located in a dense pine forest on the high shore of Lake Uzhin. For entering you should take your documents with you, since it is located on the closed territory of the Polar Lights hotel. Monks of the Valdai Iversky monastery hold services in the church.
The Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh is an exact replica of the Trinity Church, which was built in 2002 in Antarctica near the Russian Bellingshausen polar station. The wooden church was built in Altai from cedar and transported by ship to Antarctica.
In subsequent years, the owner of the Northern Lights hotel decided to build an exact replica of the Antarctic church on the territory of the boarding house. It was also built from cedar and installed on the steep shore of Lake Uzhin. A long wooden staircase descends from the church to the water. It offers a picturesque view of the surrounding area. There is a wooden platform at the bottom, which is convenient for swimming or fishing in summer.
