Vatican Museum

The Vatican Museums are not one museum but a huge complex consisting of twenty-six museums and galleries. Its history goes back to 1506, when Pope Julius II displayed in the garden of the Vatican the newly found statue "Laocoön and His Sons" — that place later received the name "Court of Statues", and today is called the Octagonal Court.
