The Yalta Zoo Fairy Tale is located at the foot of the Crimean Mountains on a mountain terrace, above the South Coast Highway. The city of Yalta itself is located on the seashore below this highway. The zoo in Yalta was founded by Oleg Zubkov in 1995. Since then, it has become one of the favorite holiday destinations for tourists with children. Nearby is located the Glade of Fairy Tales Park, where children can see sculptures of fairy-tale characters.
Oleg Zubkov is a well-known businessman in Crimea. After the opening of the Zoo in Yalta, he decided to create a Lion Park Taigan in the vicinity of Belogorsk. There, lions and other predators are not kept in cages, but live in an open space in an enclosure, on an area of 20 hectares. People can observe them in their natural habitat.
However, if you do not have the opportunity to go to Taigan Park (125 km from Yalta), then a visit to the Yalta Zoo Fairy Tale will be no less interesting excursion, and not only for children. Here you can see numerous animals and birds from different continents, mainly from the south. Keeping polar bears in the Yalta Zoo is quite difficult due to the hot climate of the Southern coast of Crimea.
An interesting attraction of the Yalta Zoo is the "petting zoo". The cubs of goats and pigs are kept in a separate enclosure. They are kept in perfect cleanliness and people are allowed to enter the enclosure to touch and pet the animals. It causes genuine delight in children.
If you are going to the Yalta Zoo Fairy Tale with children, it is best to plan a visit to the Glade of Fairy Tales Park, which is located next door. If you are in the mood for long walks in the mountains, then the walking Botkin Trail begins near the zoo. It passes through the pine forest of the Yalta Nature Reserve and then rises to the top of Stavri-Kaya Mountain.
