The Cathedral of Savior is the cathedral church of Yelabuga. It is located on the high bank of the Toima River and its tall bell tower is visible from many parts of the city. The cathedral was consecrated in honor of the Icon of the Savior. In front of the cathedral in pre-revolutionary Yelabuga was the Cathedral Square, where the Spasskaya Fair was held. Later it was moved to the Shishkin Ponds Park

The wooden church on the site of the Cathedral of Savior was built in the 18th century. In 1808, a stone temple was laid here, but it has not survived to this day due to the great fire of 1850, which burned down wooden houses in the center of Yelabuga. The stone cathedral was also damaged during the fire. In 1855, the reconstruction of the cathedral began. The Cathedral of Savior was significantly expanded, a refectory was added to it, and a five-tiered bell tower with a height of 70 meters was erected above it. In this form, the cathedral has survived to the present day.

The Cathedral of the Savior of Yelabuga was built in the Russian classical style. The bell tower of the cathedral can be climbed. It offers beautiful views of the historical center of Yelabuga, Shishkinskie Ponds Park, as well as St. Nicholas Church and Intercession Cathedral. The Cathedral of Savior is clearly visible from the Devil`s Hillfort, which is located on a high hill.
