The museum of the model of the Kronstadt forts is located in a former Dutch Kitchen building built in 1805 in Merchant Harbor. It is surrounded by water on three sides. The southern side is washed by the waters of the Gulf of Finland, and from the north there is an Italian pond of rectangular shape. From the sea side in front of the museum, the original stone pavement of the early 19th century has been preserved.

In two halls of the Museum of Models of the Kronstadt Forts, there are the models of forts of Kronstadt on a scale of 1:87. Nowadays, most of the forts of Kronstadt are in an abandoned state, but in the museum their models are recreated in the smallest detail.

The Museum of Models of the Kronstadt Forts is an interactive museum. Its visit is possible only as part of an excursion. After the tour starts, the lights turn off and visitors watch a movie about the forts of Kronstadt. Then the models of the forts are highlighted in turn, and visitors listen to the history of the construction and purpose of each fort. Here you will see the entire system of fortification of the island from the first fort Kronshlot, to the most powerful forts of the 19th century:

1. Kronshlot Fort
2. Fort Shantz
3. Fort Emperor Peter I
4. Fort Totleben
5. Fort Emperor Paul I
6. Fort Emperor Alexander I (Plague)
7. Fort Count Milutin
8. Fort Obruchev
9. Fort Grand Duke Konstantin

During the visit to the museum, visitors will learn the history of the 18th-19th century, when the forts of Kronstadt defended the passage from the Baltic Sea to St. Petersburg. The project of the revival of Kronstadt as a museum city provides for the reconstruction of some forts and their transformation into museums. In a few years, tourists will be able to see the forts of Kronstadt not only on models.
