The nudist beach in Koktebel is located in the northern part of the resort. It starts right behind the Yantyk Stream and stretches for 250 meters to the Yunge Hill. The width of the beach is about 30-50 meters; there is an embankment along the beach. Dressed people walk along it, and there are always a lot of people bathing and sunbathing naked on the beach.

The nudist beach in Koktebel is a recognized center of naturism in all post-Soviet countries. There is another famous nudist beach in the resort of Simeiz, but there it is hidden among rocks, at the foot of Mount Koshka. In Koktebel, the beach is on public display, but this does not bother anyone. Sometimes you can see people there who are sunbathing in swimming trunks and swimsuits, but no one pays attention to them and do not express claims.

The traditions of naturism were laid by Maximilian Voloshin`s guests. In 1911, he built a house and invited his guests from the bohemian party of both capitals of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Among other guests, Marina Tsvetaeva and Sergey Efron rested here. They met in Koktebel and then got married.

In 1911, Voloshin announced the creation of the "The Order of the Blockheads ". Creative people lived in a single commune, arranged playful parties, fooled around as best they could, played each other. There are many memories of the participants of those events about the free mores of the guests of the Voloshin’s house.

In those years, there was a tradition to swim on the beach without swimsuits. For the mores of those years when women were not allowed to wear men`s trousers, it was very defiant. The neighbors even created a Decency Society. They were unpleased that the men and women from the "order of the Blockheads" were bathing together naked, but they could not do anything about it.

They called for the morality of Voloshin`s guests, and even installed wooden poles on the beach, where they wrote "Men" and "Women". Realizing that they could not forbid swimming naked, they wanted men and women to swim separately, but Voloshin personally cut these poles for firewood. Since then, no one forbids to swim naked here. Now the traditions of naturism in Koktebel are more than 100 years old.

On the first Sunday of August, Neptune Day is celebrated on the nudist beach of Koktebel. This tradition also appeared in the years of Voloshin. The holiday is organized by the vacationers` own forces without involving the resort administration. In the spirit of Voloshin, funny scenes are arranged here, which are played by people without swimsuits, but with aquagrim.
