Pillar Ded in Krasnoyarsk Stolby reserve

The pillar Ded (Grandfather) is one of the most beautiful and recognizable rocks in the Krasnoyarsk Stolby Nature Reserve. One of the sides of the pillar rock is a steep cliff resembling the face of a severe old man.

The height of the pillar Ded reaches 40 meters. It is very easy to climb the shoulder of the Ded. Everyone can climb it even without a special training. You must climb the pillar as from there you can admire magnificent views of the Siberian taiga.

However, it is very difficult to climb the top of Ded’s “head”. Only stolbists (experienced rock-climbers) could do this. There are 5 tracks on the pillar, the most popular of which is the Homutik, which runs along the south side of the pillar through the left “ear”.
