All tourists who come to Berlin in summer are fond of boat rides on the Spree. The river flows by all the main sights of Berlin, and it will be very comfortable to admire the city from the boat when you are tired of foot walks.
You may go on board a pleasure boat at the bridge near the Berliner Dom. There you can embark a small boat running over the historic center of Berlin. During these tours you can see the famous museums of the Museum Island, as well as the Palace Bridge with its sculptures of white Carrara marble near the Museum Island. It is just there that the favorite boulevard of the Berliners, Under den Linden, begins.
Coming closer to the governmental quarter the tourists can see the monumental Reichstag building, the symbol of German state. Just beyond it is another landmark of Berlin – the Brandenburg Gate.
Further on the excursion boats run among the residential and office buildings. On the embankments you can see both the newer buildings erected in the last decades, and the older buildings constructed in the period of GDR. They differ very much from each other.
