The Gallery of Rare Collections is part of the Museum-Workshop of Decorative and Applied Arts. Since 2021, the gallery has been exhibiting the exhibition "In the World of the Holy Quran". Here you can see replicas and copies of Qurans from different centuries. Since January 2022, the museum`s exposition has been supplemented by the exhibition "The World of Islamic Calligraphy".
The exhibition of the Gallery of Rare Collections is based on two private collections. One belongs to Mufti Kamil Samigullin, chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Tatarstan, and the other belongs to Damir Akhmatgaliyev, a copyist and restorer of handwritten books.
Here you can see dozens of facsimile and printed editions of the Koran from different centuries, the Koran of the Iranian ruler Nadir Shah in 1740. Damir Akhmatgaliyev copied the Koran by hand on different types of paper and leather, and his most beautiful works are presented here. In the future, the exhibitions of the Gallery of Rare Collections will expand, and it will be possible to see other expositions dedicated to Islamic culture.
