Kazan Embankment in Tula is one of the most beautiful art spaces in the city. It is located at the foot of the wall of the Tula Kremlin, near the Upa River. It is wrong to call this area simply the embankment. This is a park area between the Kremlin and the river, where people can spend a good time.

For a long time, warehouses were located on this place and access to the river was closed. After the reconstruction of the Tula Kremlin and the landscaping of park areas around, the city authorities decided to create a comfortable urban space on the back side of the Kremlin. From this side the Kremlin looks no less beautiful than from the facade. On the Kazan Embankment there is a wall with 4 powerful towers: the Rectangular Tower, the Water Gate Tower, the Cellar Tower and the Ivanovo Tower.

The Upa River flowing in Tula is quite wide, but the Tula Kremlin is built opposite the island. The entire territory of the island is occupied by the buildings of the Tula Arms Factory, founded by Peter I in 1714. Now Kalashnikov assault rifles and hunting rifles are being made at this plant. The main channel of the Upa River passes to the north of the island, and a small stream about 20 meters wide flows opposite the Kremlin. The buildings of the plant, which overlook the Kazan embankment, have been restored and now they look beautiful.

A promenade has been laid along the Upa River, small bridges have been installed. There are children`s rides, swings, small cafes. Art objects and sculptures are installed in different parts of the Kazan embankment: a Tree of love, a Heart, a Bull, a Horse made of letters. One of the manhole covers is made with the image of a 5-ruble coin and is called "A nickel for good luck". Students come here to stand on it before the exam.

The Kazan Embankment does not end near the Kremlin. It is laid further to the Square of the Tula Arms Factory. There are beautiful flower beds here. The total length of the Kazan embankment in Tula is 1 kilometer. There are buildings of the Museum Quarter near the Rotunda. Here you can visit the Historical Museum and see several restored buildings of the 19th century, which belonged to merchants and rich burghers.
