New Holland Park is located in the historical center of St. Petersburg. It is located 1 kilometer from the Admiralty, and has been an integral part of it for several centuries. Nowadays, a magnificent park has been created here, which is considered one of the most fashionable art spaces of the northern capital.

The New Holland Park is located on a triangular island bounded by the channels of the Moyka River, as well as the Kryukov Canal and the Admiralty Canal. The territory of New Holland is 7.8 hectares. On summer days, hundreds of locals and guests of the city always rest on the lawn here. Dozens of cafes are located in historical buildings. There are also offices of various design bureaus, exhibition and concert halls. Various events and concerts are regularly held in New Holland. Every year the festival "Summer in New Holland" takes place here.

St. Petersburg was founded by Tsar Peter I in 1703 at the height of the Northern War for access to the Baltic Sea. The first stone building in the city was the Peter and Paul Fortress, which protected the mouth of the Neva river. The second building was the Admiralty, where the active construction of warships began.

A triangular island was created 1 kilometer from the Admiralty, connected to it by an artificial channel. This island was named New Holland, as it was made in the form of Dutch shipyards. In New Holland, warehouse buildings were erected, where the ship`s timber was dried for the construction of warships. Architect Ivan Korobov suggested drying the wood in a vertical state.

The architectural ensemble of the island of New Holland was formed in 1765, when the warehouse complexes were built according to the project of architect Savva Chevakinsky in the style of early classicism. People could see the buildings of New Holland only from the outside.

Since the 18th century, military warehouses have been located on the island of New Holland, and access to them was prohibited until 2004. By this time, the warehouse buildings of the 18th century had completely deteriorated and the city authorities decided to reconstruct, creating a park here. During the 2004 fire, most of the 18th century buildings were destroyed. The reconstruction was carried out for more than 10 years. During this time, several projects have changed. As a result, the New Holland Park was opened here. All historical buildings are completely recreated, as well as the layout of the island.

The project of recreating the New Holland Park is compared with Zaryadye Park in Moscow or Galitsky Park in Krasnodar. This park is one of the best examples of urban parks in Russia. This is confirmed by the fact that thousands of people come here every day.
