The memorial complex devoted to the soldiers of Mordovia killed in the years of World War II is on the high hill over the river Saranka. It consists of the Museum of Military and Labor Feat and the monument «Mother-Mordovia giving a sword to the Son-Soldier».

The monument «Mother-Mordovia» appeared there in 1970. The eternal flame is in front of the monument. A 18-meter stele with an inscription is behind the monument. The inscription reads as follows: «The eternal glory to the soldiers killed in the battles for freedom and independence of the Soviet Russia during the Great Patriotic War (1941—1945). You departed this life to save life. You feat, your names are for ever in the hearts of the grateful people».

In 2005 a semicircular memorial wall with columns was was erected behind the monument. On that wall there are 10 boards of black stone with the names of Saransk soldiers killed during the Great Patriotic War.

The Museum of Military and Labor Feat was built in 1995. It has 4 halls. The Hall of Glory is at the entrance to the museum. A mosaic panel devoted to the soldiers who fought at the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and the home-front workers is at the hall. The main museum exposition is in the hall «The Fire Front Roads».

The Hall of the Military Leaders is on the ground floor. There one can see the portraits of the great military leaders of Russia from the time of Alexander Nevsky to the commanders of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the bust of Stalin. Finally, the hall «The Continuity of Generations» is devoted to the commanders of the post-war period. Also a small exposition of military equipment is near the museum on the side of the Pushkin Park.
