Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral is considered the most beautiful temple of Kazan. The cathedral was built in the style of Russian or «Naryshkin» baroque in 1726. It is very richly decorated both inside and outside.
Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral is in Dzhamilev Street. After a tour of the Kazan Kremlin and Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral it will be more convenient to go along Kremlin Street. And then you may go to Bauman Street.
Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral was built by Mikhlyaev. Tsar Peter I stayed at the house of this rich merchant before the Persian campaign.
Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral has two churches. The spacious summer church on the first floor was devoted to the apostles Peter and Paul. And the lower and warm winter church was devoted to the Meeting of the Lord. The Icon of Our Lady of the Seven Lakes, as well as the relics of the saints Iona and Nectarius of Kazan are kept in the church.
