The valleys of Heaven and Hell on Mount Karaul-Oba can be called one of the most beautiful sights of Novy Svet. These valleys are not as well known to the general public as the Golitsyn Trail, but the beauty of nature there surpasses everything that can be seen in the immediate vicinity of Novy Svet

A walk to the Valleys of Heaven and Hell should start at the Champagne Winery of Novy Svet. Here you can go to the relict Juniper Grove, where you will see juniper trees. The age of some trees reaches several hundred years. If you walk along the Juniper Grove directly to the sea, you can go to the Royal Beach and the Azure Bay, which is located between Cape Kapchik and Mount Karaul-Oba.

In order to go to the Valleys of Hell and Heaven, in the Juniper Grove you have to turn right and follow the path on the opposite side of the ravine. At first, the path goes along the edge of the Mount Karaul-Oba, but then you need to climb a fairly steep slope deep into the mountain. The distance from the entrance to the Juniper Grove to the climb to the Mount Karaul-Oba is 1.6 kilometers. The climb is 80 meters. On the way you will see the dry trunk of an ancient pine tree called the Crimean Baobab.

When you climb Mount Karaul-Oba, you will see the Cosmos Peak in front of you. This is a rocky cliff that rises above the plateau of Mount Karaul-Oba. To the right of it is the Valley of Heaven. The path to the left leads down into the Valley of Hell. First go left into the Valley of Hell, here you will see the most beautiful landscapes of Novy Svet resort. At the beginning of the way you need to approach the crevice, which offers a view of Cape Kapchik and other picturesque mountains in the bays of Novy Svet. There is a stone on which it is convenient to sit – it is called Golitsyn`s Bench.

After enjoying the view of Golitsyn`s Bench, go to the Tarzan Stairs. There is a very steep descent down the slope of the cliff, but juniper roots have grown along it, thus you can use it to go down like a Swedish wall. Below is the Valley of Hell. It is a small clearing, over which the peaks of the mountains rise. There are very beautiful views of the sea, very picturesque rocks and stones. Junipers and pines grow among them. Some junipers grow directly from the stones. It`s absolutely amazing how this is possible.

After enjoying the beauty of the Valley of Hell, take the Tarzan stairs back to the fork of the paths and go to the Valley of Heaven. It is a vast clearing at the foot of Cosmos Peak. There are no beautiful views in the valley itself.
