The Bugaz Spit is a narrow strip of land that separates the Bugaz estuary from the Black Sea. There is clean water, the spit beach is covered with quartz sand, so many people come here to swim from Anapa or Vityazevo. The wind blows almost constantly on Bugaz Spit, so it has become a kitesurfing and windsurfing center.
Bugaz spit begins near the village of Blagoveshchenskaya and stretches for 12 kilometers to the village of Veselovka. The spit is 30 km from the village of Vityazevo and 40 km from Anapa. A wide part of the spit is located near the village of Blagoveshchenskaya, where the construction of the resort town of New Anapa is planned. Further, the Bugaz spit stretches in a narrow strip between the Black Sea and the Bugaz estuary. Its width varies from 100 to 300 meters in different places.
The Black Sea beaches of all Russian resorts in the Caucasus are covered with pebbles, and the beaches of Anapa are covered with magnificent sand. In the suburb of Anapa, the village of Vityazevo, on the beaches you can even see huge sand dunes. This is due to that several millennia ago the Kuban River flowed into the Black Sea, and its waters carried a huge amount of sand to these places. The dunes in Vityazevo and the beaches of Anapa consist of this sand. The Kiziltashsky and Bugazsky estuaries are the former mouth of the Kuban River, which now flows into the Sea of Azov.
There is a road on the spit, but it is closed to free passage of cars (previously it was allowed). Now cars can enter the spit to transfer tourists to the spots for kitesurfing and windsurfing. At the very beginning of the Bugaz Spit, several glamping sites were built for water sports fans, but there are no stationary buildings on the spit itself.
Bugaz spit attracts fans of kitesurfing and windsurfing, as the wind blows almost constantly here. Beginners can train on the absolutely smooth water of the estuary in safe shallow water. Several kite schools operate on the estuary in the summer. Sportsmen with experience can cross to the other side of the spit and train on the waves of the Black Sea. Sometimes these waves are quite high.
Since Bugaz Spit has a very wide sandy beach (more than 100 meters) and there are no stationary buildings, a lot of fans of camping used to come here. However, when the entrance to the spit was closed, their number decreased. It is not very convenient to carry everything they need for a wild vacation for several kilometers on the sand. The closure of the spit is associated with too much human impact on nature. Hundreds of cars drove into the spit during the season, and too much garbage was left from tourists. Now the car needs to be left in parking lots at the beginning of the spit.
The sea on the Bugaz spit is almost always clean. There is no problem here, which appears on the shallow beaches of Anapa and Vityazevo when the kamka algae begin to bloom. On the Bugaz Spit, the depth near the shore is greater and the coastal currents are stronger due to the wind. Thus, when kamka algae create discomfort for swimming in Anapa, the water in the sea on the Bugaz spit is quite clean.
