The Gallery of Modern Art is located at the intersection of Karl Marx and Mushtari streets, opposite the famous Museum of Fine Arts, of which it is an integral part. The three-floor gallery building was constructed in 1979.
On the ground floor you can see the works of modern abstract artists. The pictures of modern Russian and foreign artists are on display on the first and second floors.
Numerous expositions of modern artists and photographers are constantly held at the gallery. Both individual and thematical exhibitions are held there, such as «The History of Russia in Photos, 1941-1945», «The Golden Age of Japanese Graphics», «To Kazan is Devoted», «Abstraction without Borders», etc.
The permanent exhibition «At the Brenings’» is on the second floor of the museum. There you can see an interesting collection of authentic household items of the Brenings – the dynasty of apothecaries, photographer, musicians, and connoisseurs of art.
