The Skypark Extreme entertainment Park is a great addition to both beach holidays in Sochi resorts and winter holidays in the ski resorts of Krasnaya Polyana. It is located in the Akhshtyr gorge at an altitude of 207 meters above the Mzymta River. Here you can walk along the suspension bridge, as well as test yourself on numerous extreme attractions.
The metal suspension bridge over the Akhshtyr Gorge was built in 2014. Its length reaches 439 meters. This is one of the longest bridges in the world built over a mountain gorge. The distance from Sochi Olympic Park to Skypark is 20 kilometers. From the ski resorts of Krasnaya Polyana, you will need to drive 33 kilometers.
The entrance to the Skypark is located on the right bank of the Mzymta River. You need to drive along the old road through the village of Cossack Ford. At the entrance there is a restaurant and a souvenir shop. After buying an entrance ticket, you can walk along the suspension bridge and admire the beautiful views of the Akhshtyr Gorge. From the north side you can see the mountains of the Greater Caucasus Range.
After crossing the Skypark suspension bridge to the opposite side of the gorge, you will find yourself in the Colchis forest. A grove of relict hornbeams and yews grows here. However, you can walk along it only on a special path laid along the edge of the gorge. It is not allowed to go over the railing from the path.
The main purpose for which people go to the Skypark, of course, is not to explore the gorge or walk through the Colchis forest. For an additional fee, on the bridge and along the edges of the gorge, you can try yourself in extreme entertainment at an altitude of over 200 meters.
In the center of the bridge in the Skypark there are platforms for the most extreme entertainment. On the Bungy 207 attraction, you can make a jump at an altitude of 207 meters, 7 seconds of free fall. There is also a SochiSwing attraction. This is a swing where visitors can swing over the gorge, at an altitude of 207 meters. Nearby is the Bungy 69 attraction. It is for those who do not risk jumping from a height of 207 meters and prefer a less extreme jump of 69 meters.
The zipline attraction in the Skypark gives you the opportunity to ride a trolley at a speed of 50 km / h from one side of the gorge to the other. On the Megatrolley attraction, you can do the same, but at a speed of 120 km / h.
On the opposite side of the gorge from the entrance, the Via Ferrata (Iron Trail) is laid. These are iron staples driven into the sheer edge of the gorge. You can feel like a climber who, with belay rope, will walk along the brackets for several tens of meters along the cliff, holding on to the rope. There is also a rope park for children with six routes that differ in difficulty level.
If you want to combine entertainment in the Skypark with a walk through the natural attractions of the Sochi National Park, then there are several interesting locations nearby. 500 meters from the Skypark parking lot there is a descent to the Akhshtyr cave. Archaeologists excavated there and found numerous evidences that Neanderthals lived there for 70 thousand years. The Wet Canyon of the Psakho River and the Dry Canyon of the Psakho River are located 5 kilometers from the Skypark. The Monastery village is 13 kilometers away, from which you can walk to the Dragon`s Mouth Waterfall. This is one of the highest waterfalls of the Sochi National Park.
